Ray Williams is a force of nature in the world of strength sports. From dominating the football field to rewriting what’s possible on the powerlifting platform, Ray’s journey is rooted in discipline, perseverance, and a deep love for being strong.
From Gridiron to Iron
Ray’s athletic path began with football, where he became a 2× All-Ohio Valley Conference selection and an All-American. Football taught him the importance of strength — a lesson that would later define his career. After football, a friendly bet led him to train for his first powerlifting meet, where he squatted 800 lbs, benched 425 lbs, and deadlifted 610 lbs.
Going Viral
Unsatisfied with his first meet, Ray came back stronger at the USAPL Alabama State Championship — squatting 905 lbs and setting the internet on fire. From that moment on, he became a legend in the sport, breaking records and inspiring lifters worldwide.
Injury, Resilience, and Growth
COVID-19 brought challenges, including a serious groin injury while squatting 1003 lbs — a setback that took three years to fully recover from. But it was also a season of blessings: Ray got married to his wife Jasmine, welcomed a beautiful daughter, and earned his doctorate.
Beyond the Platform
Ray knows the clock doesn't stop, and he’s focused on achieving his remaining goals while making a lasting impact. He brings positivity and energy into every room, knowing that contagious energy can change lives. For Ray, it’s about lifting others as much as it is about lifting weights.
Ray’s Motto
“IT’S MONEY TIME!” Whether on the platform or in life, Ray shows up with heart, discipline, and passion — proving that strength is as much about character as it is about kilos.
