Rayya Howard
Strength Beyond Her Years

Rayya Howard is rewriting the standards of youth weightlifting in the United States. At just 8 years old, she’s already a two-time national champion, multiple American record holder, and a fierce competitor whose passion for lifting is matched only by her love of wrestling and football.

A Champion at Heart

Rayya is the reigning National Champion in both the 11U and 13U 30kg weight classes. She began Olympic Weightlifting at the age of five, training under the guidance of 1992 Olympian Osman Manzanares at the Nashville Weightlifting Club. With a foundation of elite coaching and natural drive, she quickly emerged as one of the top lifters in her age group.

Breaking Records, Setting Standards

In December 2024, Rayya broke the American records in snatch (31kg), clean & jerk (37kg), and total (68kg) in the 30kg weight class. Just two months later at the 2025 Arnold, she shattered her own records — lifting 32kg in the snatch, 40kg in the clean & jerk, and setting a new American total record of 72kg. She accomplished this weighing just 27.45kg herself.

Holding State Titles

Rayya is also the Tennessee and Kentucky state record holder in the 13U 30kg weight class for both the snatch and clean & jerk, adding more accolades to her already impressive resume.

Beyond the Barbell

When she's not training on the platform, Rayya is just as competitive on the wrestling mat or out playing tackle football. Her fierce determination and fearless energy shine through in every sport she takes on, making her a role model for young athletes across the country.
