Love these, easily the best squat shoe I've ever used. The stability had instantly helped my stance for squats, and overall, the shoe packaging is superb
I actually wanted to write this review. I heard about Lu's online and that they are similar to the fabled Nike Rom 2 which is not available anymore. I first contacted Lu unsure of which sizes to get. There were some old reddit threads that confused me about sizing. Lue was super helpful, and also offered to let me buy 3 pairs, pick the right size, and return the two that didn't fit. I was skeptical of their advice, but it turns out what's written on the website is very accurate: Just measure your feet (both, in case one is longer) and buy the pair that most closely matches your foot (going larger if you are in between two sizes). I normally wear 11.5 men's running shoes from Asics, Brooks, Nike, etc. but an 11 in the Converse Chuck Taylors, for example, but I ended up with a 10 in the Lu's! They fit but my toes were hitting the fronts at first. Lu told me though, you want them to fit tight at first because they will break in and to trust them that you want a tight fit for lifting shoes. I was in my own head about it because I've had a fair amount of running related injuries from bad shoes, so I'm anxious about shoe purchases because I still love to run short distances routinely as part of my workouts, but I mainly lift now.
Long boring story just to tell you that Lu's sizing recommendations are accurate! :) My foot measures 278mm (27.8cm) and the 10's were what the charts said to buy and those are the ones that indeed worked out.
Now for in-use and performance notes- Wow! I went from squatting in Converse to these, and the difference is not subtle! I love these shoes! I'm not a heavy lifter, the most I ever squatted was 315, but I love high reps and I'll do 245x12 for 3 sets as part of my leg day routine and these shoes are not only making me feel much more stable and confident in my lifts, but I notice it actually makes the exercise slightly harder, which probably means my quads are getting targeted more efficiently as well. I'm able to breach below parallel now much more easily, when compared to doing the same exercise in Converse or barefoot.
Also, benchpress feels easier to do leg drive.
They also look awesome! I got the "distressed" finish. They are pretty sick looking. Someone else said they look different than the picture of that finish, but to me, it looks exactly like the picture on the website.
The customer service was over and beyond what I expected. They answered every email and question that I had, and provided a return label to mail it to a domestic facility in Texas. So I didn't even have to deal with international shipping except for receiving them, which was a breeze actually They came 3 days after I ordered them! Incredible customer service, basically.
If I ever need anything else like this I'm coming back here! Thank you! :) Telling my gym friends about them for sure.
